In Astronomy, Orion
is a constellation formed from a cluster of bright,
young stars. Interestingly enough, Orion was a
celebrated hunter in the oldest Greek mythology
after whom this constellation was named.

You might be
wondering…. "Who is Kevin Coughlin …
and why another head-hunting agency?" To answer this
question, I would like to start by giving you a
quick review of my experience.
Over the last 18
years I have held numerous middle management and
senior roles in the pharmaceutical industry. I was
extremely fortunate for the first 12 years of my
career to be working with a truly exceptional
multi-national pharmaceutical company - Boehringer
Ingelheim - where, from 1990 - 1999 I held various
sales management positions. One of my early mentors
taught me many years ago that hiring was the most
critical component to the success of the company. I
realized that I had a passion and a talent for
hiring bright, talented, energetic colleagues. Many
of my early hires are now in senior sales, marketing
and executive positions. I am extremely proud of
their achievements and I continue to follow their
careers. This passion for recognizing and developing
talent was the foundation of this new endeavor.
In 1999 I changed my
career path when I was given the opportunity of
opening up a Canadian subsidiary of ASTA Medica Ltd,
a multi-national Oncology Pharmaceutical company.
One of the main responsibilities of this position
was to hire the entire human
infrastructure of the company.
In 2002, ASTA Medica
Ltd. was acquired by an extremely large US
multi-national organization. During the first six
months of the acquisition one of my main objectives
was to lead the integration project of ASTA into the
larger business.
This is where my own
integration plan came into play - the integration of
my top two business passions: (1) helping
people become successful by matching their talents
and skills with fulfilling & rewarding careers in
successful companies; and (2) starting and
managing a business dedicated to positively
impacting the end customer.
Hence the
establishment of Orion Healthcare Recruiters.
